The accident happened on the Paya Lebar flyover at about 10am Wednesday.</p><p>According to a sourceat the scene of the accident, a "little girl" was flung out of the prime mover through the windscreenupon impact and thrown onto the road.</p><p>She did not seem to be wearing a seatbelt at that time, the source said.</p><p>Oncoming traffic then ran over the little girl.</p><p>A police spokesman said a 12-year-oldgirl was conveyed to the Changi General Hospital, along with three other casualties. It was not known if they were all occupants of the prime mover.</p><p>Unfortunately the girlsuccumbed to her injuries at about 11am and was pronounced dead, said the police spokesman.</p><p><b>Aftermath</b></p><p>All three lanes on the Paya Lebar flyover were closed and traffic was diverted to the Paya Lebar exit along PIE for a few hours on Wednesday.</p><p>The accident had happened around 10am and only one lane on the flyover was reopened by around 12 noon.</p><p>A police spokesman told AsiaOne they received a call about a prime moveraccident at around 10am.</p><p>According to a Singapore Civil Defence Forcespokesman, one female casualty had a left-leg fracture while the other suffered a head abrasion. The male casualty complained of pain in the legs and hips. The deceased had head injuries.</p><p><b>tonyng@sph.com.sg</b></p><p></p><hr size="1"><p><b>GIRL DIES IN HARI RAYA CRASH</b></p><p><b>By Sherilyn Lim and Rachel Chan</b></p><p>HARI Raya Haji is a day of religious observance for Muslims but,louboutin, for one such family,air jordan, it was a day of mourning.</p><p>The family was travelling in a prime mover along the Pan-Island Expressway yesterday when the 38-year-old driver, Mr Mohamad Zubri Samat, lost control of the vehicle, crashing it into the central divider.</p><p>His 12-year-old daughter, Nurul Nabilah Zubri, suffered head injuries and died at about 11am at Changi General Hospital.</p><p>She had been in the front cabin with her 36-year-old mother and two other sisters, aged 10 and eight months.</p><p>The woman fractured her left ankle while her eightmonth- old child grazed her forehead.</p><p>The other child is believed to have escaped unhurt. The driver sustained injuries to his head and leg.</p><p>They were all taken to the same hospital.</p><p>Prime movers are generally used to transport industrial material such as sand and granite.</p><p>However, giving friends and family members a ride in such heavy vehicles is commonplace, say industry insiders.</p><p>"This should be discouraged," said Mr Tan Jin Thong,abercrombie pairs, the president of the National Safety Council of Singapore.</p><p>He explained that there is a specific use for prime movers and they should not be used as private vehicles.</p><p>"The prime mover is not designed to carry passengers, so there's a higher risk of serious accidents happening."</p><p>Transportation companies said that employees are permitted occasional personal use of the vehicles, although using them to perform jobs for competitor companies is forbidden.</p><p>Depending on the type of insurance policy purchased by companies, such personal arrangements may or may not be condoned. However, rules about using such heavy vehicles for personal use vary from company to company, they said.</p><p>It is common for employees to drive such vehicles home after a workday, as it is more convenient to park them at heavyvehicle parks nearby.</p><p>According to Traffic Police statistics, the number of fatal accidents involving heavy-goods vehicles has been on the rise, from 1,abercrombie pas cher,014 in 2004 to 1,287 in 2008. The number dipped slightly last year to 1,200.</p><p>Mr Tan said that speeding is the main reason why heavy vehicles are involved in road accidents.</p><p>"Because of the load that these heavy vehicles carry and the weight of the vehicle itself, the driver may not be able to stop in time during an emergency, when they are travelling over the limit," he said.</p><p>"When this happens on a wet road, they will lose control of the vehicle,abercrombie."</p><p>The speed limit for all heavy vehicles is currently set at 60kmh.</p><p>In the first half of this year, 153 drivers of such vehicles were caught speeding, exceeding the 152 caught during the whole of last year.</p><p><b>limsher@sph.com.sg</b></p><p><b>rachchan@sph.com.sg</b></p><p></p><p>
